History
Therapy Experienced began in 2018 in response to a growing need in our community for better access to mental health services. Teen suicides have had a devastating and far reaching effect on the community over the past few years and the area is under-served in regards to mental health services being available, especially for children. Christina Hostetler, M.A., LPC, had been providing professional counseling services in the area since 2010 but had a growing wait list and nowhere local to refer. Therapy Experienced was created as a non-profit in order to make counseling services more accessible in the area using the resources available. Christina has collaborated with Canby Foursquare Church, a local church with a history of being invested in the health and well being of the community to have space where clients can come for services, maximizing the financial and personnel resources it takes to provide such resources. Christina has been able to bring in and supervise graduate school interns who can provide services for lower income families as well as families who can afford to pay for services but could not access those services due to a lack of providers in the community.
We have been able to provide weekly outpatient services for multiple families, we have also been able to provide unique experiences in wilderness therapy settings for kids and their parents creating life long memories and healing experiences. Our purpose is to continue to make mental health services accessible to our under-served area.
Currently we have a small team of therapists providing quality services. We also maintain a collaborative relationships with YD Adventures and Canby Foursquare Church. YD Adventures has helped us build and run the wilderness therapy part of our work and Canby Foursquare has extended a generous arrangement for office space and additional resources which help us maximize our financial and personnel resources.
